Trauma support counselling provides support to anyone who has experienced distressing or life-altering events. It helps individuals explore their emotional and physical responses and develop healthy coping strategies for daily life.
Trauma support counselling within a wellness framework focuses on emotional coping, stabilisation, and resilience-building. It does not involve clinical diagnosis, specialised trauma psychotherapy (such as EMDR), or psychiatric treatment.
If your needs indicate that specialised psychological or psychiatric care would be beneficial, I will discuss this with you and support an appropriate referral while continuing to offer supportive care where suitable.
Trauma counselling sessions offer a safe, confidential space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace. Your counsellor supports you in making sense of your experience, emotional and physical responses and helps you to build resilience and emotional well-being.
The duration of trauma counselling varies depending on your individual needs and the complexity of your experiences. Some clients benefit from 3 or 4 sessions, while others may require more support.
