Supporting Anxiety through Counselling

Anxiety can feel as if your mind is constantly racing. Like your body is always on edge, and it can be hard to switch off or feel calm. While I don't diagnose or treat anxiety disorders, I offer a space to help you manage with feelings of anxiety during stressful times. We do this together, by exploring how anxiety affects your thoughts, feelings and learn practical ways to calm your body and mind. As we work, we build coping tools that help you feel more grounded. This may include simple techniques such as breathing exercises, mindfulness, and considering unhelpful thoughts — all of which can gently support you in finding greater ease, balance, and a sense of peace.

Supporting feelings of Depression through Counselling

Depression can feel like a heavy weight that makes everything seem harder. You may even struggle to do things you used to enjoy. You may be feeling tired, unmotivated, or disconnected from yourself and others. While I don’t diagnose or treat depression, I offer support in managing the feelings and challenges that come with it. To do this, we gently explore your thoughts and experiences and work on developing coping skills to help manage difficult feelings, embrace self-compassion and respond with more confidence and flexibility. This is done through mindfulness and regulation activities, and by tapping into your strengths to increase resilience.

frequently asked questions

Counselling to manage feelings of anxiety and depression involves providing a safe, supportive space to explore your feelings and develop healthy coping strategies. Our sessions focus on helping you regain balance, confidence, and emotional well-being.

This process supports you in making sense of what you’re experiencing and gaining tools you can use beyond sessions — with compassion, insight, and self-respect.

What Counselling Is Not
Wellness counselling is not a clinical assessment, diagnosis, or medical treatment for psychiatric disorders such as major depressive disorder or anxiety disorders. If at any point your experience suggests you may benefit from clinical or psychiatric evaluation, I will support you in connecting with appropriate professionals.

If you often feel overwhelmed by worry or tension, struggling with feeling low, tired or low motivation, restless, or find it hard to cope with stress or emotional responses, or seeking to build practical coping strategies and personal insight, counselling can help.

Speaking to a counsellor offers you the chance to share your feelings without fear of judgement, allowing for a sense of relief, and they can help to identify tools to manage your emotions more effectively.

Yes. Online counselling allows you to receive support to manage feelings of anxiety and depression from the comfort of your home—anywhere in South Africa. It’s confidential, flexible, and just as effective as in-person sessions.

Everyone’s journey is unique. Some clients begin to notice positive changes after 1 or 2 sessions, while others need more sessions. What matters most is your commitment to the process and your willingness to explore what’s happening beneath the surface.

In your first session, we’ll focus on understanding your experiences, current challenges, and goals. You’ll have the space to talk freely in a safe, non-judgmental environment while we begin identifying ways to support your well-being.
